Sent By Mercy

2014 Passion Conference

In this 46-minute session from the 2014 Passion Conference, Louie Giglio uses Isaiah 6 to describe how a true encounter with God leaves people stunned, seared, and sent. You will be inspired to humbly claim the righteousness of Christ and follow His lead.

Louie founded the Passion Movement to inspire people to live for the name and renown of Jesus. He is also Lead Pastor at Passion City Church in Atlanta, Georgia and the author of several books including Passion: The Bright Light of Glory and I Am Not But I Know I AM.

Take time to read the passage below before considering the following questions.

Isaiah 6:5-8 (ESV)

5And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”

6Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar.7And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”

Isaiah’s Commission from the Lord

8And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”

In the conversion of Isaiah, we see that a true encounter with God leaves people
  1. STUNNED: stopped by sin and amazed by grace (v. 5)
  2. SEARED: set apart by the blood of Jesus (v. 7)
  3. SENT: catapulted toward mission (v. 8)

“So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.” ~ Colossians 3:1-2 (MSG)

May we be a stunned, seared, and sent people serious about living this resurrection life.
