Obeying God Requires Community with Mike Hurt

Page 1

In John 14:15, Jesus said that if we love him, we will obey his commands. Most of us want to obey God. In this short clip, Mike Hurt, Senior Pastor at Parkway Church in Victoria, TX, describes how living in community and building relationships with one another is essential to godly obedience.

Mike says that to be obedient, you have to be connected to others. He mentions that there are over 50 “one another” commands in the Bible. Look up these five: John 15:12 Galatians 6:2 1 Thess. 5:11 James 5:16 1 Peter 4:10

After looking at those five verses, list each of the five unique things Christians are commanded to do toward "one another." How can you carry out these commands in the context of your small group? Write down at least one idea for each of the 5 commands.

Mike said, "Small groups are one place relationships happen." Your small group plays an integral part in helping people grow and become who God wants them to be. Pray that God will help you lead them to deeper levels of commitment and obedience.
