What Matters Most

Generous Giving Conference

In this 40-minute session from the Generous Giving Conference, Jud Wilhite diagnoses why so many people with so many things often find life so unfulfilling. He points instead to the sure fount of pleasure and joy available to those who seek to honor God through a life of generosity. Jud is founder and pastor of Central Christian Church, a non-denominational multisite congregation in Las Vegas, NV. Jud is author of several bestselling books including Pursued and The God of Yes.

Philippians 2:1-8 (ESV)

Christ’s Example of Humility

1So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy,2complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.3Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.4Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.5Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,6who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,7but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.8And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

What would change in your life if you set your priorities—with your time, your resources, your money—based on what matters most? What would you do differently?

Think and pray over those questions, remembering that for those in Christ, the most important things in life are shaped by faith. We value what God values. We lay down earthly treasures because we've found our ultimate treasure in Christ, knowing well of the inheritance we have in Him as adopted sons and daughters of God.
