Peter Confesses Jesus as the Christ

13Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”14And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”15He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”16Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”17And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.18And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rockI will build my church, and the gates of hellshall not prevail against it.

Peter knew that Jesus was the Son of God. Knowing who Jesus is means having everything you need for ministry.

What happens when we forget who Jesus is in ministry? Where have you seen examples of this in individuals/ministries?

Ultimately, HIS church is not a building or a gathering place. Being HIS church means being in biblical fellowship and working with other believers to seek God's mission on earth. Being His church means standing firm in the knowledge that Jesus is Lord over all, the Head of the church.

"And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all."
Ephesians 1:22–23 (ESV)
