Theology in Worship

2013 Austin Stone Worship Conference

In this 12-minute session from the 2013 Austin Stone Worship Conference, Matt Boswell calls worship leaders to be fluent in the gospel, acquainted with its content, and equipped to herald its message through song. Matt is on staff at Providence Church in Frisco, TX and is author of Doxology and Theology: How the Gospel Forms the Worship Leader.

1 Peter 2:9 (ESV)

9But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

The gospel matters to your music. Your heart must be formed, molded, shaped by who Christ is, what Christ has done, and who you are in Him. When it is, you are able to lead others into the blessed realities of the redeemed community of believers, showing them the glory and the goodness of their God.
