To Lead Worship in Truth

Worship in Spirit and in Truth

Jimmy Needham has been professionally making music for nearly ten years and has recorded six albums. He even teaches a course on songwriting and performance through his website. Part of his success comes from consistent humility as an artist. In this video, he encourages worship leaders to not settle for good enough, but always build into their personal relationship with the Lord as a feeder for leading others in worship.

John 3:27-30 (ESV)

27John answered, “A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven.28You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before him.’29The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete.30He must increase, but I must decrease.”

The right way to make less of your self is not by trying harder to diminish your pride. It naturally occurs when you elevate Jesus and see him in his great glory.

Worship leaders who make much of Jesus in their personal lives will be far less likely to use their platform to feed their own pride. Then these musicians who have an accurate picture of Jesus and themselves can use music and song to teach truth. Jimmy teaches that an attitude of worship is birthed from truth about God.
