4 - How Can We Nurture Worship?

Get our hearts fixed on Christ

God calls us to live all of life as worship buy expressing our satisfaction in all that God is for us in Jesus and reflecting that joy to the world. But the world is battering us to see and savor other things besides God. In this session, John Piper explains how to develop a pattern that will constantly re-orient ourselves on God.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (ESV)

18And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Romans 12:1-2 (ESV)

A Living Sacrifice

1I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.2Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Let's love the withdrawal and let's love the lingering because worship begets worship.

The vital essence of that inner experience we call worship is being satisfied in God or cherishing Christ as gain above all things. Romans 12:1-2 shows us that all of life as worship. We get up in the morning and we get our hearts fixed on Christ. We go to him and renew our satisfaction in him through his Word. And then we enter the day seeking to express and increase that satisfaction in all that God is for us in Jesus.
