The Life We Long to Live

2013 Work As Worship Conference

Tom Nelson serves as the Senior Pastor at Christ Community Church in Leawood, Kansas, and he is the author of Work Matters: Connecting Sunday Worship to Monday Work. In this 34-minute session from the 2013 Work as Worship Conference, he challenges the view that work is inconsequential to our spiritual life, and stresses work as part our calling as God's image bearers.

Why would a pastor write a book on work? Because work matters to God. As his image bearers, we carry an intrinsic desire to do significant, profitable work.

God is a worker and the labor of our hands is pleasing to Him. After all, work was an integral part of Adam's life in the garden. Even though this world is corrupted by the Fall, God still makes all things new and redeems our vocations for His great glory. Think about God's hand on your work as you move to worship Him in it.
