Evangelism and Friendship

When you genuinely care about people, they are highly intrigued

The First Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, Florida calls themselves the Family Church. They have totally embraced the philosophy of starting authentic friendships with their neighbors, yes in order to share the gospel, but also simply to make new friends. Before you hear from Jimmy, listen to this powerful story of the gospel working its way out in a workplace friendship.

Sandy saw a coworker who desperately needed the gospel, and he worked to establish a genuine friendship. Jimmy Scroggins is convinced that loving people in this way is a powerful and effective way to share the love of Christ.

Matthew 20:25-28 (ESV)

25But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.26It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant,27and whoever would be first among you must be your slave,28even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

"When people come into your home and you begin to make friends, it's amazing how your walk with Christ, your relationships with others, and your commitment to your church comes up naturally in conversation."
