Deploying Leaders and Missionaries

It is the church's duty to deploy its people

Jonathan Falwell has been the Senior Preacher at Thomas Road Baptist Church since 2007, and Thomas Road takes joy at losing members who go out on mission. In his message at the 2013 SEND Conference, he challenges other church leaders and pastors to look to lose some attendance by sending members out to plant new churches.

God didn't call you to build a megachurch. He called you to build His kingdom.

Acts 1:8 (ESV)

8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

What is your church's level of concern with attendance? (1- zero concern, 5 - counts every head)

Why did you choose that answer? Do you think your leadership has a healthy attitude toward numbers in your church? Why?

What does your church currently do to encourage its members to go out and church plant if they are called to it? Are your people equipped to leave and form their own churches? Do you have enough qualified members to send out administrators, musicians, discipleship teachers, pastors, etc.? If your church does nothing like this, answer these same questions for what you would like your fellowship to become in this regard.

"Deploying our people who are sitting in our seats every week is our duty. It is required, and we will be held responsible for how we send them out, not on how we bring them in."
