We know that we've been created to live in community with one another. What does it really mean to love one another in that context? Is love an emotion, a gesture, an act of will? 



Trevor Joy, Spiritual Formation Pastor at The Village Church, defines the Trinity to explains how one God in three persons is the foundation for our biblical community.


Trevor explained the different and distinct roles within the Trinity. What a great illustration of how we relate to each other! How does your small group reflect different roles and responsibilities according to their gifts?

Next, Trevor explains the role and responsibility of  the small group to provide a place for people to strive together to see their lives changed by the power of the gospel.

Trevor referred to the Starbucks' mission statement, which seeks to provide a place for people to belong. How does your small group provide a place where you strive together and see your lives changed by the gospel? Can you give some examples?

Trevor explained that home groups/small groups provide a place for people to strive together to see their lives changed by the power of the gospel in two ways:
  • Connection 
  • Intentionality

Sanctification is a community project and small groups are a place where the body can tangibly take on the responsibility of saying to each other, "Grow more into the fullness of Christ."
