Why does God allow suffering and tragedy? Does science disprove Christianity? Is Jesus really the only way? Why are Christians so hypocritical? People throughout the ages have wrestled with questions like these, and chance are, so do the teens in your youth group.

Christianity teaches of an all-powerful, all-loving, and good God who created the universe and is still actively involved in it. But to people who are suffering or doubting, it can seem that either God isn’t really all that loving, or He doesn’t have the power or desire to stop evil from happening. This powerful illustration from "Apologetics" uses the physical laws to show how pressure, stress and strain can wear down and destroy or straighten, refine and purify.

There are students in your group who feel shaken to the core. The pressure, stress and strain of circumstances and doubt are threatening to destroy their faith. At the beginning of each session, your students will experience dramatic or sometimes funny illustrations to ease into the topic and face their questions and doubts.

In each session, you'll also hear from students who share their own struggles in coming to terms with what Scripture teaches about God, sin, creation and Jesus. In this real-life story from the series, Ian shares how the injuries that his mom is suffering with caused him to struggle in his own faith.

Do you know any students like Ian, who blame God for the unfair things that happen in their lives? Are there students who are wrestling with these tough questions? Who will you reach out to as you start this Bible Study?

In each of the four challenging sessions, Matt Chandler provides powerful teaching from Scripture and helps teens understand why believing in God and the Bible is not only reasonable, but also essential.

Matt serves as Lead Pastor of Teaching at The Village Church in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. He speaks at conferences throughout the world and has authored two books, The Explicit Gospel and Creature of the Word

Listen as he gives encouragement for youth pastors, workers and leaders as we prepare to tackle these tough issues with our students.

Matt's journey of faith began with a friend inviting him to church and then a faithful youth minister spending time and answering questions. Who influenced you in your Christian faith? What did they teach you about wisdom and patience that you can use as you lead and serve students?

To help you teach the Bible study lesson, you will use downloadable Leader's Guide and group handouts available online to dig deep into powerful teaching from the video. Take some time in advance to consider the Bible study questions and come up with personal examples to encourage discussion with your students.

As you prepare to lead this Bible study, are there any ways I can pray for you or help you facilitate?
