Dr. John Townsend is an author of over 20 books, the radio host of New Life Live, a clinical psychologist and a leadership consultant. In this first video, he answers, “Who is the best leader you have ever sat under and why were they so good?”

John said that his boss, Roy, "put a fire under him" about leadership by encouraging and mentoring him. It's so easy to underestimate how much of an impact your confidence and investment in someone else might have. Who are you building up right now? Who else might you take under your wing?

In this next clip, John answers the question, “What is the most important thing you do to develop leaders?”

John said that when he's working to develop leaders, he asks them two important questions:

  1. Do you know yourself?
  2. Do you know people?

Take a moment to honestly answer those questions for yourself. Can you specifically identify your strengths and weaknesses. Your passions, your background, your mistakes? Why is this so important?
