In this Insight for Living video, Chuck Swindoll, author, radio broadcaster and Senior Pastor of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, TX, talks about sure ways to resist temptation.




What tempts you? Where are you the most vulnerable? As you consider those questions, look at three ways Chuck offered to resist temptation:

  • Claim the supernatural strength that comes from knowing Jesus.
  • Determine in your heart to resist temptation and stay holy.
  • Flee if you need to.

How are you practicing these three things in your fight against those things that tempt you? What might you do different?

Read Proverbs 16:17. You noticed in the video, the images of temptation were of a man, alone, looking at a computer screen. Most temptations come to us when and where we are most vulnerable and alone. They turn into sin when we have not claimed God's supernatural strength or determined in our heart to resist or do not flee. Who can be a trusted Christian friend who you can ask for accountability in your struggle?

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.  ~1 Cor. 10:13
