Faith at Home

2011 D6 Conference

In this 43 minute session from the 2011 D6 Conference, Mark Holmen, pastor, author and leader of Faith at Home Ministries, talks about how to become a faith at home focused church.

As you watch this session, take notes and write down thoughts about how this session can impact your role.

Mark shared tons of fantastic information on how to make your children's and youth "silo" more faith at home focused. But before you begin thinking about what you can do in your church, let's go through Mark's 3 "next steps."

1. What do you need to do to be a more faith at home focused individual? Before you can lead others to do this, you have to be doing it in your own home. Do you bless your children? Do you pray regularly as a family? Do you have faith talks and spend time as a family in the Word? If you are doing these things in your home, then it's time to move on. If not, then what can you begin this week?

2. What can you do in your ministry area? Consider what you are already doing in your ministry area. How can you include more of a faith at home focus with what you already have in place (similar to inviting parents to the youth "sex talk" weekend)?

3. How can you encourage your church to embrace this on a church wide level?

Mark said that one key to creating a faith at home focused church was to realize that it will take a long term commitment. Take time to pray for God's wisdom on how you can build a faith at home culture in your church. Remember, that even starting with one event a year can change the course of future generations for Christ.
