In this 6-part series, Kyle Idleman underscores the freedom of a life with Christ by getting back to the basics. The New Testament makes it clear how easily we can be tempted to turn toward fraudulent gospels, especially those that teach we can earn God’s love through our works. In this Book of the Bible series, Kyle Idleman dives into the book of Galatians to show that true freedom is found in surrender.

Kyle Idleman is Teaching Pastor at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky—the fifth largest church in the country with over 20,000 in attendance every week. Kyle is a sought-after speaker for regional and national conferences and the author of four books including the bestsellers Not A Fan and The End of Me. He has also worked with City on a Hill Studio to write and present seven video curricula including the award-winning H20: A Journey of Faith and The Easter Experience. Kyle and his wife, DesiRae, have four children.

It's easy to veer off track. At times, we've all been tempted toward the lie that we have moved beyond the basics of our faith and have no need to return to them. Paul reminds the church in Galatia that we never grow beyond the basics. The good news that saves us is that same news that sustains us to the very end.

Listen to Kyle's encouragement to leaders:

Kyle noted that while the book of Galatians has some unusual parts, its core message is that the gospel sets us free from works-based religion to walk in the grace of Christ. How does that truth shape the way you feel about stepping into this leadership role? What fears could you surrender to God as you approach this study? What do you look forward to seeing happen in your group?

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free and you are a recipient of that gift today. As you approach this study, rest in that truth. Let it be your strength and your prayer as you help those you lead to embrace that same freedom through faith in Christ. Don't be afraid of the basics. They are our hope today, tomorrow, and every day until we meet our King in glory.
