Why Do the Nations Wait?

OnMission 2017

Jesus’s Great Commission to the Church commanded us to “Go and make disciples of all nations.” Yet despite that clear directive, there are 6000 people groups—2.7 billion people—who have never heard the gospel. Why are so many nations still waiting to hear? In this video from OnMission 2017, Matthew Ellison, President of Sixteen:Fifteen, sits down with four pastors to discuss the reason so many people have yet to hear of Jesus.

Matthew Ellison is the President and co-founder of Sixteen:Fifteen, which exists to help local churches discover and use their unique gifts in partnership with others to make Christ known among all nations. He formerly served as the Missions Pastor at Calvary of Albuquerque, New Mexico. There, he founded an international short-term mission ministry called LifeLine Missions that gave thousands across the country the opportunity to experience the mission field firsthand. Now, he devotes his time to serving local churches across the country by coaching them in strategically focused missions and helping them to discover and use their unique gifts in partnership with others to make Christ known among all nations. Matthew currently lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with his wife, Renee, and their three children.

As you watch this session, take notes and write down thoughts about how this session can impact your ministry.

There are 2.7 billion people who have yet to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. We must mobilize the Church to bring the hope of the gospel to the ends of the earth. In part two of the discussion, the panel will discuss practical ways that local congregations can take part in fulfilling the Great Commission.

Why Do the Nations Wait? Part 2

Jesus is still unknown and unloved among 6000 people groups. What can we do about it? In part two of the discussion, Matthew Ellison, President of Sixteen:Fifteen, continues the conversation with four pastors to discuss ways to give congregations “handles to grab” in doing their part to fulfill the Great Commission. When we treasure Christ, we will commend Him to others.

We must expose God’s people to His glorious vision for the nations to know, love, and honor Jesus Christ. When this is made clear, laborers will go into the harvest.
