The Role of the Senior Pastor in Global Missions

OnMission 2017

If the Great Commission is important for believers, the vision must be owned and emphasized by the senior pastor of a church. In this video from OnMission 2017, Leon Oosthuizen, Pastor at Vredelust Church in Cape Town, South Africa, reminds pastors of their responsibility to move people toward the agenda of God for their lives.

Leon Oosthuizen is the Senior Pastor at Vredelust Dutch Reformed Church in Cape Town, South Africa. He is the co-author of Roads 2 Bridges: Uninterrupted conversations: Stories of friendship and partnering across the racial divide, along with Xola Skosana, which addresses the racial divide in the Church in South Africa. Leon’s church has a long history of working with communities around social justice issues. Leon lives in Cape Town, South Africa.

Senior pastors have the privilege of influencing their staff and church toward missions. We must own the vision as Jesus sends us and empowers us with the Holy Spirit.
