As Robert made clear, God does has made it clear through His Word how we are best to please Him. Though we are very good at convincing ourselves that our way is right, God desires to be glorified on His own terms. Spend some time in prayer asking God to give you a more eternal vision for your future. Trust Him to mold your heart in such a way that your anticipation of the glory to come outweighs the challenges of today.
