Sanctification in Layers

Transformation Takes Time

Sanctification is slow and hard, but we can be encouraged that the Lord is constantly working to transform our lives, and the lives of those around us, through layers of His word, community, faithful preaching, prayer, confession of sin, and seasons of life. John Henderson, Executive Director of the Center for Church Equipping at the Association of Biblical Counselors, reminds us that we can trust God to send the next right piece in the process of our sanctification.

It is freeing to realize that we are not the agent of change in someone else’s life. Rather, we are just one piece in a larger process as God works in the lives of those around us.

John talks about how exciting it is to see the Lord breaking through to the hearts and minds of others. Have you ever experienced a friend or family member finally begin to see and understand the gospel as God enlightened their heart? What did you feel as you experienced that?
