Clear Distinctions

The Nines Conference 2014

How can the church simultaneously communicate radical hospitality and biblical clarity, especially when it comes to the topic of same-sex marriage? The goal of teaching biblical truth is not simply to restrain the sinful behaviors of people, but to introduce them to a Savior who can transform their lives from the inside out. As Adam said, this is not merely a gay or straight issue, but a lifestyle that submits to the lordship of Jesus Christ. Establishing a clear membership process is an effective avenue for clearly communicating biblical standards for belonging to a local congregation. As you consider your own church, make sure that you have a clear process for membership, one that moves people from friendship to a place of belonging in the family of God.
