A Higher Standard

The Nines Conference 2014

As Christians, when we base our moral understanding on a standard lower than that of God's Word, we deprive ourselves of His best for our lives and that of others. In this 5-minute session from The Nines Conference 2014, Wayne Cordeiro, Founding Pastor of New Hope Christian Fellowship in Honolulu, Hawaii, addresses the issue of homosexuality and encourages Christians to base their worldview on biblical morality so as to invite others into the truth of God's good plan for life.

Homosexuality is not a new issue. The only difference in today's world is that our government has chosen to endorse it through same-sex marriage. While this should not change our understanding of biblical morality, as Wayne said, the church must do a better job of lovingly inviting the same-sex community into the truth of God's Word. Our call is to restore, not to condemn. As you consider the ways in which God has called you to engage the topic of homosexuality, be bold in your convictions, but not in ways that ostracize others unnecessarily. Speak with the love of Christ inviting them into the hope found in Him.
