The Marriage Circle

The Nines Conference 2014

If your sexual impulses are God-given, how could it be wrong to deny ourselves of them? In this 5-minute session from The Nines Conference 2014, Wayne Cordeiro, Founding Pastor of New Hope Christian Fellowship in Honolulu, Hawaii, shows why self-control is a critical part of the Christian life and explains the importance of principled commitment, especially in preparation for marriage.

As Wayne pointed out, effective preparation for marriage means finding ways to express your love outside of merely sexual means. But more importantly, restraining sexual impulse is an act of obedience to God that deepens your commitment to Him as well as your future spouse. God has designed all people with good impulses, but those are best enjoyed when we engage in them according to His Word. Let Scripture be your authority, teaching you where self-control is needed so that you can walk deeply in the joy of Christ.
