Environments of Grace

The Nines Conference 2014

God's Word tells us that all men and women are made in His image, which means they are intrinsically deserving of value, honor, and dignity. Because of this, though Christians cannot endorse same-sex relationships, we can endorse people and welcome them into our midst. In this 5-minute session from The Nines Conference 2014, Derwin Gray, Founding and Lead Pastor of Transformation Church in Indian Land, South Carolina, shares how he has worked to create an environment of grace and recounts the story of how a lesbian woman committed herself and her family to his church.

Derwin said, "Sometimes you have to belong before you believe." Because of God's Word, we have a responsibility to value all people while communicating the biblical design for men, women, and marriage. How we do this is an act of worship because it reflects the Savior to those around us. As you think on this issue, work to create an environment of grace for people struggling with sexual sin to experience Christ and learn what it means to walk by the Spirit. Embrace the beautiful struggle that is sanctification and trust God to bring forth fruit.
