The Good of God's Commands

The Nines Conference 2014

Many times, when people think about God's commands they see Him as a cosmic killjoy, especially when it comes to biblical parameters on sex. In this 5-minute session from The Nines Conference 2014, Troy Gramling, Lead Pastor at Potential Church in Cooper City, Florida, explains why viewing God in this way misunderstands the purpose of His commands. Like a father telling his children not to run in the street to protect them from danger, God gives us His commands as a way of leading us into His best for us. More than a set of rules, obedience is a path to life freeing us from sin and drawing us into greater intimacy with God. If there are ways that you view God's commands as joy-restricting rules, pray that He would change your understanding. Ask Him to reorient your perspective so that your life would reflect the greater joy of following His path.
