Are Yahweh and Allah the Same God?

Jesus is God

As Islam continues to spread worldwide, many people attempt to harmonize Islam and Christianity. Since both religions trace their roots back to Abraham, some people don’t see a difference between Yahweh and Allah. In this post, Mark Dever, Senior Pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., and John Piper, founder and teacher of desiringGod.org and Chancellor of Bethlehem College & Seminary, point out the clear distinctions between Islam’s and Christianity’s beliefs about Jesus as God.

Mark said Yahweh and Allah are not the same deity. He used the analogy of talking about a friend at a class reunion to illustrate the variances between a Christian’s view of Yahweh and a Muslim’s beliefs about Allah.

What did you think of Mark’s analogy to describe the difference between Allah and Yahweh? How is Jesus the image of the unseen God?

What does it mean for someone to truly love, honor, and worship God?
