A healthy leader knows their boundaries and trusts those they lead with decisions. How can a business leader communicate and instill trust while maintaining authority? Consider the RACI model when you need to make big decisions.

  • R - Responsible: Who is responsible for making this decision?
  • A - Approve: Who needs to approve this decision?
  • C - Support: Who needs to support this decision?
  • I - Informed: Who needs to be informed about this decision?

Joel describes the two major problems he sees in leaders when it comes to trust and decision making. Either the leader lacks clear communication or refuses to delegate. Which of these problems do you tend towards? Do you think this tendency communicates trust or distrust to your employees?
