Confidence in the Workplace

Christ in You

Confidence in the workplace earns respect and recognition, but sometimes there’s too much to be done and too little time. How can we be assured we’re doing our best and thriving in our position? In this video from the WorkMatters FUSE Forum, Shelley Simpson shares her secret to confidence. Shelley began her career at J.B. Hunt as a customer service representative in 1994 after graduating from college. She has been promoted to various roles and responsibilities to becomeChief Marketing Officer, EVP, and President of Integrated Capacity Solutions.

Shelley noted she’s stopped thinking about having confidence at a level that everyone expects. She’s advanced rapidly at J.B. Hunt Transport Services, having been promoted many times since she’s been there. She could easily boast about her accomplishments. Instead, she boasts in Jesus.

Shelley said that God has expanded the size of plate she’s been given, and the reality of that can be overwhelming. The world is all about boasting in advancement, promotion, and performance. The way of Christ, though, is to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit and allow Him to work and move in you. As you consider your attitude and performance at work, consider Christ. He was God, and yet he humbled himself on a daily basis as he served.
