The Gospel-Shaped Mind

The Gospel Coalition 2012 New England Regional Conference

In this 48-minute session, John Piper, the founder of DesiringGod.org and chancellor of Bethlehem College and Seminary, argues that the ultimate goal of God in giving us a mind and heart is found in the actions of the heart—not the mind. Our minds should rightly serve our hearts to motivate us to worship our God. Sin, however, corrupts our minds and that’s what the gospel seeks to rectify in our lives.

Knowledge transforms the way we live and behave if we allow what we know to shape our heart. God could have communicated to us through many different ways, but He chose to communicate through a book. The Bible contains everything we need to know for a holy and godly life. As we build our knowledge of the Bible and allow that knowledge to transform our hearts, we move closer to the worship God desires.
