Must We Choose Between Truth and Tolerance?

The Gospel Coalition Conference 2013

In this 74-minute session, Don Carson, world-renowned New Testament scholar and author, and Research Professor at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and author of over fifty books, takes a hard look the tendency of our culture to be intolerant in the name of tolerance. Tolerance, he says, has become the premiere virtue of our society, and yet we present a gospel that is most intolerant.

In our culture, tolerance has taken on a new meaning. We no longer can say someone has an idea or opinion that’s wrong. For a gospel that’s exclusive—that only through Jesus can a human come to God—it makes it hard to live out our faith without compromise. Cling to the truth, and speak the gospel with grace and understanding, and don’t give up.
