Philippians 4:6-9 (ESV)

6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.9What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Ben encouraged three things based on this passage:

  1. Cast off your anxiety (vv. 6–7)
  2. Embrace truth (v. 8)
  3. Walk in truth (v. 9)

Ben said, “It is not the existence of things in our lives that is the problem. It is our anxiety about them that sabotages our lives.” What gives you anxiety? How has anxiety affected your life, faith, and relationships?

Read these two passages before considering the following question.

1 Peter 5:6-7 (ESV)

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Ben concluded, He is strong enough to do something about what is worrying you. He is loving enough to want to listen to it. He is wise enough to know when and how to care for you. Will you trust him? That is where you will find peace.”
