5 - YOUR REWARD

SOW AND REAP

In this final session, Josh offers comfort and hope for weary workers. Rest assured, your work is not worthless in the kingdom of God. Faithfully sowing good seeds produces a harvest in the kingdom of heaven.

Galatians 6:9 (ESV)

9And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Josh explained how the law of the farmers and the harvest relates to your work in children’s ministry. Describe your current season. Are you in a season of drought, weary from a lack of fruit? Are you in between seasons, waiting expectantly for God to move? Or, are you in a season of harvest, full from an abundance of fruit? What are you learning about God in this season?

Acts 20:35 (ESV)

35In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

Josh encouraged, “Sow seeds of goodness, compassion, and selfless love. And God in his amazing, eternal, and divine accounting system, will repay you with much more than you ever anticipated.” What does sowing seeds of goodness, compassion, and selfless love in your kids practically look like? When is that a struggle for you to do?

GIVE FREELY

In light of eternity with God, life on earth is short and its treasures worthless. An eternal perspective changes everything. Listen as Josh talks about heavenly treasure and hope in an eternal reward.

Hebrews 6:10 (ESV)

Josh encouraged, “An act of compassion to a lost and straggling sheep will be rewarded. That extra effort and intentionality placed in preparation for a Sunday school lesson, by faith, will be rewarded.” What special ways can you minister to the children in your group and others around you this week? Where is God’s love most needed and how can you faithfully give it away?

Jesus is coming back and His reward is with Him. Faithfully sow into the lives of your kids with hope in eternity and the expectation that God will show up and initiate the harvest. And do it all out of the overflow of your love and dependence on Him. Josh said, “You may be called to serve with six kids. That is not a national platform, but I tell you the truth, to faithfully do that which God has called you to do can change the world.”

To successfully partner with God to lead kids to Christ, it is important to consider how to create a safe space, share the gospel, build relationships, and lead intentionally in the classroom.
