Dr. La Verne Tolbert is the president of Teaching Like Jesus Ministries, a non-profit organization equipping leaders in the local church, and the vice president of editorials for Urban Ministries Incorporated, the African American Christian Publishing & Communications company. She received her master of arts in Christian education from Talbot School of Theology in La Mirada, California. La Verne is the author of Exploring and Engaging Spirituality for Today's Children: A Holistic Approach and Teaching Like Jesus: A Practical Guide to Christian Education in Your Church. She and her husband, Irving, have one adult child and live in California.
