Dr. Charlie Dates is the Senior Paster of Progressive Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication and Rhetoric at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Divinity Degree and a PhD in Historical Theology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. In 2011, at age 30, he became the youngest Senior Pastor in Progressive's 99-year history.
In addition to his pastoral duties, he has served as an Adjunct Professor at the Moody Bible Institute, is a Contributing Editor for Preaching Magazine, and currently serves on the Community Advisory Board for the Chicago Fire Department. He is also a contributor to the 2014 book Letters To A Birmingham Jail. Charlie and his wife, Kirstie, have two children.
